Located in Columbia, S.C., the Darla Moore School of Business was founded in 1919 when it opened as a school of commerce. It added a master of business administration (MBA) degree in 1958. The school changed its name to the Darla Moore School of Business (often shortened to the Moore School of Business) in 1998 following a large donation from Darla Moore, an alumnus of the school.

The school is consistently ranked as a top 10 school for international business studies. It is one of handful of schools in the United States offering a masters of international business degree, a program that it began in 1974.
