Biography:

Laurie Kane Burkhardt is a wealth manager at Modera Wealth Management, LLC. Laurie works with clients to formulate financial planning and investment strategies and monitor progress towards their goals. Laurie has significant experience helping clients to understand planning issues for professional women, same sex couples and elderly parents. In addition to her work with clients, Laurie serves on the firm's Philanthropy Committee. Laurie also contributes to the Modera Wealth Management blog where she recently collaborated with her colleague, Kelly Henning, to publish an article titled What To Do to Prepare for Retirement which also appears on Investopedia.

Before joining Modera, Laurie worked for LPL Financial as a financial planning Consultant, where she provided guidance to Financial Advisors in the design, illustration and implementation of financial planning recommendations. In her prior financial planning roles, Laurie established financial planning strategic priorities and provided comprehensive financial planning services for clients at two financial services firms. Laurie managed the financial planning services offering for high net worth and small business clients of a Boston-based financial services firm with more than 200 advisors. She subsequently launched a new financial planning process for investment clients of a New England regional bank with more than $1.5 billion in assets under management. Prior to pursuing a career shift into financial planning in 2005, Laurie spent 20+ years in various management positions in financial management and strategic planning at MetLife.

Laurie earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Harvard University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Boston University. She obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2005.

Laurie is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and Boston Estate Planning Council. She volunteers through her local FPA chapter to provide pro bono financial coaching and planning to military families. Laurie serves on the Advisory Board of the Boston Chamber Women’s Network and is a member of the Women’s Initiative Committee for the Boston Estate Planning Council. Laurie is also very involved with her local Unitarian Universalist community, and she regularly serves in a leadership capacity (including terms as the organization’s President and Treasurer).

A lifelong Boston-area resident, Laurie resides in Canton, MA with her husband Jim, and their boy/girl twins are in their 20s. Outside of work, Laurie cherishes her many close relationships with family and friends.
