As the Executive VP of State Street Global Advisors and Chairman of the global SPDR business, Jim Ross doesn't have much free time. That wasn't the case in 1993, however, when a slow day at work lead the former accountant to ask his boss for more to do around the office. The strange request stuck with his manager, and within a month, Jim was asked to join the team creating SPY.
