BREAKING DOWN Indian School of Business (ISB)

The ISB's first post graduate program was launched in 2001 by a group of Fortune 500 entrepreneurs who collaborated with the Indian government. The school partners with several other prestigious schools, including the Wharton and London Business Schools.

The Indian School of Business was the answer to a huge need for a world-class business school in Asia. The founders, some of the most preeminent minds from the corporate and academic worlds, correctly anticipated the growing need for leadership in the emerging Asian economies.

Specifically, they recognized that the rapidly evolving Asian business environment would require young leaders, who not only had an understanding of developing economies, but who also present a global perspective. The ISB was created to develop such leaders through its innovative programs, outstanding faculty and thought leadership. The ISB is funded entirely by private corporations, foundations and individuals from around the world who believe in its vision. The ISB is a not-for-profit organization.

An eclectic, accomplished faculty handles the teaching at the ISB. Current permanent faculty have been chosen from leading international business schools on the basis of their research excellence and teaching acumen. The school also hosts visiting faculty from top business schools worldwide, including Wharton, Kellogg, London Business School, Cornell, Chicago, Duke, and UCLA. These visiting academics add their perspectives to the school's academic culture and enrich it further. There's also an active research environment, complemented by visiting scholars and research scholars.

ISB offers the International Student Exchange Program, which provides students the opportunity to study for two terms at other leading business schools. The ISB has partnerships with 42 leading schools from the USA, France, South Africa, Israel, Germany, China, Pakistan and the UK.

The faculty has received many awards and recognitions for their achievements. Professors have won grants, been invited to be members of governing bodies of other prestigious organizations, and some have received awards for their papers.
