Experience

After serving in the U.S. Air Force for 16 years Bruce, now retired, worked for more than 30 years in the financial services industry. During this time he provided fee-only financial advice to clients. He earned his CFP designation in 2000 and served as president of B&L Financial in the Portland Oregon area for many years.

Bruce enjoyed sharing his expertise as an instructor at Oregon State University and the University of Portland where he taught the Certified Financial Planner course. He presents seminars about retirement planning and portfolio management for the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII).

Bruce now spends his time working on his third career as a writer. His writing appears in many financial and investing websites including Investopedia, Retirement Watch, Seeking Alpha, and Stock Investor. He is the author of two ebooks, Retirement Investing for Income ONLY, published in 2014, and the 2015 edition of IRA: A Quick Reference Guide

Education

Bruce received his Bachelor of Science in Health Science from the University of Portland, and earned his Master of Science in Health Education at the University of Oregon.

Professional Designations

Bruce holds a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
