G. Allen Andreas Jr. is an American businessman.

G. Allen Andreas Jr. is the former president, chairman and CEO of Archer Daniels Midland, an agribusiness company that is one of the largest food processing and food ingredient providers. Archer Daniels Midland makes products for human consumption along with animal feed and products for use in the industrial and energy sectors.

Born in 1943 in Iowa, G. Allen Andreas Jr. joined Archer Daniels Midland in 1973, working on the legal team. Prior to working for the family corporation, Andreas worked in the U.S. Treasury Department in Denver. He took over the role of CEO at Archer Daniels Midland in the late 1990s from his uncle Dwayne Andreas. The transition was marked by controversy, as several Archer Daniels Midland executives had participated in price fixing, including the son of Dwayne Andreas, who many believed would be the next CEO of the corporation. Instead, G. Allen Andreas Jr. went on to serve as president and chairman, and is now known for turning the company around after the price fixing charges. Andreas retired from his position in 2007, effectively ending his family’s dynasty at the corporation. He was succeeded by Patricia Woertz.

Andreas is mostly known for running the major agribusiness cooperation Archer Daniels Midland, headquartered in Chicago and currently run by Juan R. Lucian. The agribusiness corporation is one of the largest agricultural processors in the world, serving over 170 countries. Archer Daniels Midland employs around 31,000 people worldwide, with 270 ingredient manufacturing facilities and 420 crop procurement facilities across the globe. Archer Daniels Midland produces oils and meal from soybeans, cottonseed, sunflower seeds, canola, peanuts, flaxseed, palm kernel and diacylglycerol oil, along with corn germ, corn gluten feed pellets, syrup, starch, glucose, dextrose, crystalline dextrose, high fructose corn syrup sweeteners, cocoa liquor, cocoa powder, cocoa butter, chocolate, ethanol, and wheat flour.

Founded in 1902 by George A. Archer and John W. Daniels in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Archers Daniels Midland Corporations started as a linseed crushing business. In 1923, they acquired the Midland Linseed Products Company and they grew the business to include milling and processing. The Andreas family began its reign of the company in 1970 when Dwayne Andreas became the chief executive officer, marking the era during which the the corporation became a major industrial agribusiness powerhouse.
