John is an economist, author, and the founder of OptionsNerd.com, which he founded in 1998. OptionsNerd.com provides professional training and education to stock, options and futures traders.

John co-authored, with John Olagues, Getting Started in Employee Stock Options (published by John Wiley & Sons, 2010). He also co-authored Options on Futures: New Trading Strategies and Options on Futures Workbook (published by John Wiley & Sons, 2001). John is also the author of Trading Against The Crowd: Profiting From Fear and Greed in Stock, Futures and Options Markets (published by John Wiley & Sons, 2004), which delves into contrarian sentiment trading indicators as well as different trading systems for stocks, options, and futures.

John has published over two dozen articles about with Investopedia regarding option trading strategies.

Currently, John is the chief economist for John Summa Economic Consulting where he provides financial market analysis and designs derivative hedging strategies.
