Jay Kaeppel

Jay Kaeppel has more than 25 years of experience in the financial markets. He began his career as head trader at Essex Trading Co., managing futures accounts. He then moved to Optionetics, where he worked as a trading strategist and also wrote a weekly column called “Kaeppel’s Corner.” He currently manages the Alpha Multi-Income Strategy Portfolio at Alpha Investment Management, a firm that provides services for long-term investors. Jay also provides daily analysis for readers as the chief market analyst on his own website.

Jay has published four different books on trading, The Four Biggest Mistakes in Option Trading (1998), The Four Biggest Mistakes in Futures Trading (2000), The Option Trader's Guide to Probability, Volatility and Timing (2002) and Seasonal Stock Market Trends: The Definitive Guide to Seasonal Stock Market Trading (2009). Jay’s written work has also appeared in Stocks and Commodities magazine and Active Trader magazine. His areas of expertise include options and futures trading, foreign exchange and minimizing risk.

Jay earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Western Illinois University.
