You can use a Walmart MoneyCard anywhere Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard are accepted. In addition, the Walmart MoneyCard also allows you to pay bills for free through online bill pay.

Types of MoneyCards

Walmart offers four types of MoneyCards: Basic, Plus, Specialty and Preferred. Each comes with a $3 monthly service fee that can be waived on all cards (with the exception of the Basic) by reaching a targeted monthly deposit amount.

You can choose between Visa or MasterCard for your Walmart MoneyCard.

Online Bill Pay

Free online bill pay allows you to send a check directly to anyone you need to pay, such as your landlord. You can also enable automatic payments for recurring charges each month, such as your car insurance. The online portal allows you to view a record of all of the payments you have sent. To enable online bill pay, you must activate a personalized card. This feature is not available for basic Walmart MoneyCards.

Withdrawing Cash and Money Orders

The Walmart MoneyCard allows you to withdraw cash from a bank branch. There is a $2 fee per withdrawal. For a 70-cent fee, you can use your Walmart MoneyCard to purchase MoneyGram money orders up to $1,000.

Reloading a MoneyCard

Rapid reload is available at participating Walmart locations. There is a $3 fee for this service, but it is free with the Preferred card. The Preferred card also offers rapid direct deposit. At participating Walmart locations, you can also cash your payroll or government check and have the funds loaded onto your MoneyCard. There is no reload fee, but check cashing fees may apply.
